Indian Passport.

Indian passport can be issued from more than 35 locations across India and 160 Indian missions abroad. The three types of Indian passport are: Regular Passport, Diplomatic Passport and Official Passport. The first is for ordinary travel while the second is for Indian diplomats and third for those representing the Indian government.

How to apply?

To apply for a passport, you have to obtain an application form and along with it submit proof of residence, date of birth, change of name, documents for ECNR, expired passport, passport size photographs etc. For guidelines on how to apply click here. For the fee, a fresh passport of 10 years validity will cost Rs 1000. For duplicate passport in case it is stolen or lost, it will cost Rs 2500. And for change of name or address, it will cost Rs 1000. Passport Delivery Period

Generally it takes about six weeks for your passport to arrive. However you can apply for a new passport under the ‘Tatkaal Scheme’ in case of emergency.
